MOUNT EDWARD Drumlin Riesling 2008

The grapes for our 08 Drumlin were grown from vines on Northburn Station, a fantastic property, and indeed wine label, in its own right. It sits near the shores of Lake Dunstan, on a beautiful, north west aspect, sloping down towards the lake nearby and it is owned by good friends Tom & Jan Pinckney.

The glacial based gravelly schist soils give a nice mineral backbone to the wine with its balance coming from some precise fruit flavours, primarily citrus. Harvested in late april, this riesling is medium in style, the residual sugar balanced by a clean, crisp acidity. Delicate yet complete, this wine is drinking extremely well now but can be cellared with confidence for 5-7 years as a minimum.

Aperitif in style with 10.0 % alc, 49 grams residual, 8.7 grams acidity, 2.8 pH, 77 cases made.
